Upping the stakes...

So apparently, walking 19 miles in the dark, most likely in the rain in the miserable British weather isn't enough for some of you... but apparently many of you would be willing to see this wonderful man...

...dressed up in some of these items...

So... how deep are you willing to dig for this interesting sideline? For Chris to spend an evening walking 19 miles with another 150 or so people dressed like a... well... dressed like that I suppose?

Well, here's the deal, if, you raise £30 for Chris he'll pop on some fun colourful leg warmers. For every additional £30 he'll add on another item of clothing. So for an additional £30 (total £60) he'll wear the top left tutu, then we'll upgrade to the bottom left tutu (total £90). Then we'll add on the purple wig (total £120), upgrading to the lovely pink number with the purple/blue ponytails (£150)... and, if he tops £180 we'll make him look ravishing with some lovely red lipstick and tasty blue eyeshadow!

He's even alluded to wearing a dress if you reach £200!

So, what do you say? How much is it worth to you to torture this lovely man..?

Remember this is for a great cause where 100% of your money will go to charity - to saving and rehoming starving, injured and abandoned animals. Dogs like little Freddi.

Freddi's Story

Freddi's story is one which inspires me, and underlines my motivations for doing this. 

This is Freddi. Freddi was found being attacked by larger dogs whilst trying to scavenge for food. An angel rescued him, literally snatching him from the jaws of death. He was severely injured in the attack so much so that he needed to have an operation on his spine.

It was touch and go for awhile, but Freddi survived the first night in care, whilst Helping Hands sent out a call and managed to get the monies together for this (not cheap) and very difficult operation.

Freddi was operated on and pulled through the operation very well. He is now in a foster home awaiting a fresh new start in a forever home. Is he your 'best friend'?

Walking 19 miles (30kms) in the dark scary night!!!!!

On the 1st November, 8 days before I turn 30, myself and my other half (Chris) will be walking (30kms) 19 miles-ish in the dark, miserable British weather... almost out of choice... to raise money for Helping Hands! 

The weather will not stop us, the fact that we are doing it at night (possibly in the wind and the rain, after a friends birthday the night before!) an extra challenge.

I enjoy walking, but rarely get the chance these days to do more than a few miles so we are woefully out of practice. And Chris, well the furthest Chris likes to walk in a day is from the house to the car!

"Why are we doing this mad challenge?" you may ask...

Well, we're doing it for a very worthwhile and  'every penny truly counts and helps in a real way' charity called Helping Hands.

Helping Hands is a tiny charity based in Aguilas, Spain which works to rescue and rehome animals to forever homes across Europe.

ALL the people who work for the charity are volunteers, they all give all their time for FREE

ALL the people who work for the charity are volunteers, they all give all their time for FREE, they go above and beyond at personal cost, fill their homes with unwanted/ abandoned/ abused and plain damaged animals who others have literally left out in the cold to fend for themselves.

I personally have great respect for these people (one of which is my mother!), who give up so much just so that the animals they rescue don't suffer. The costs they accrue are immense, so many of these animals need urgent veterinary attention, all of them needs the basics (vaccination, neutering, flea/tick treatment) and many of them come in in appalling conditions. My hat is off to these amazing people. Please dig deep and sponsor me and my other half to complete this challenge!
